The principle underlying our exhibition project is inspired by the ideas of the Italian thinker of the 16th century Giulio Camillo, who worked on a system of organizing information to create a perfect mechanism for memory training. We attempted to recreate this idea from a different angle: not save information, but to revive memories. The artworks represented in our “Theatre of Memory” invited the audience to return to the cradle of the past and dive into their own recollections.
The exhibition is part of a long-lasting research project and of a daring endeavour: we aim to awaken and gather the memories of our fellow compatriots about the city of Dushanbe and its recent history - the oral stories and memories, that are not included in textbooks.
