Map of Memory# – a layered, chaotic cosmos of the past, carried through time and never dispersed, assembled from memories as flashes of the personal within the fabric of the collective.

In search of an alternative to a generalized model of history, one rooted in a chaotic and self-reproducing structure, SANO Collective turns to personal memories, testimonies of well-known events, and stories of urban legends. Bringing together an image of the city that is impossible to grasp in its entirety, composed of countless personal versions, the artists and researchers archive what cannot be archived, systematized, or hierarchized.

Created on the basis of a 1985 map, the work is an attempt to visualize the ghostly, elusive reflection of a real map within the mental space of memory. The iconic architecture of Dushanbe serves as an anchor for this image of memory, symbolizing a connection to the past for generations of its inhabitants.
Sayran (meaning a state of strolling) is an exhibition-route connecting urban landscapes across Central Asia - Almaty, Bishkek, Pavlodar, Taraz, Samarkand, and Dushanbe.

The route passes through local hangouts - cafés, bars, and coffee shops - and connecting them with galleries.
